SECOND CHANCES
After countless failed attempts to escape what is left of his Vietnam homeland in the late 1970’s, Viet Quoc Nguyen crosses paths with the beautiful Nga Thi Le, a young Vietnamese woman studying at university to become a teacher. The hope born of a brief love affair is soon dashed when the two are torn apart during separate attempts to flee the escalating violence overtaking the city. Nga and Viet must find a way to survive the untold horrors inflicted by Mother Nature and by men during one of the darkest periods in human history. Caught in the middle of rising political violence, their very lives are threatened at every turn, yet fate isn’t finished writing their love story. Witness an incredible true tale about the loss of a nation’s innocence, the indomitable human spirit, and the power of coincidence.

FOUNDER OF THE SECOND CHANCES IMPACT FUND
As the child of Vietnamese immigrants, the story behind Second Chances is deeply personal to me. I grew up hearing the sacrifices, struggles, and resilience it took for my family—and so many others—to rebuild their lives after war and displacement. Starting over in a new country isn’t just about reaching safety; it’s about healing from trauma, finding stability, and creating hope for the next generation.
But the truth is, that journey can be incredibly difficult. Many refugee and immigrant families who legally come to the United States carry invisible burdens—memories of conflict, the challenge of adapting to a new culture, and the pressure of building a life from the ground up. Even after becoming citizens and contributing to their communities, many still struggle with access to mental health support, stable housing, and basic resources to help their families thrive.
That’s why I am starting the Second Chances Impact Fund. It is a commitment to support programs that help refugees and immigrant families rebuild their lives with dignity—through mental health support, family stability, community integration, and opportunities to create a better future. We also believe compassion should extend beyond borders, helping provide food and resources to children and families in need throughout Asia.

My greatest hope is that this fund can turn stories of survival into stories of renewal. By sharing these journeys and supporting meaningful programs, we can help ensure that those who have already overcome so much are given the opportunity to truly thrive.
Thank you for being part of this mission to restore hope and create new beginnings.

Best,
Steve

Who We Are
The Second Chances Impact Fund will be founded by Steve Nguyen as part of a commitment to supporting refugees and immigrant families who have legally resettled in the United States and are working to rebuild their lives after displacement.
Inspired by the powerful story behind the Second Chances film, the fund recognizes that many families who arrive in America after fleeing war, persecution, or hardship face profound challenges as they begin again in a new country. From healing trauma and navigating cultural transitions to establishing financial stability and providing for their children, the path toward rebuilding a life can be difficult—but it is also filled with resilience and hope.
The Second Chances Impact Fund exists to support that journey. Through partnerships with community organizations and humanitarian initiatives, the fund helps provide resources that support mental health, family stability, education, and basic living needs for individuals and families working to create a new future.
At its core, the fund believes that when people are given opportunity, compassion, and support, a second chance can become the beginning of something extraordinary.

The film Second Chances serves as a powerful catalyst for awareness, helping bring global attention to the real-life journeys of displacement, resilience, and rebuilding. Through the film’s reach and impact-driven campaigns, the Second Chances Impact Fund aims to mobilize audiences, partners, and supporters to contribute to meaningful change.
